What types of books does Write Wisdom specialize in?

Books that capture your voice, your philosophy, your life experiences and your passions. Write Wisdom has worked with CEOs and founders of major corporations, a philanthropist, a married couple wanting to share their life’s journey together, a family wishing to write a tribute about their father and grandfather, a career military man, an inventor, a physician, a professional opera singer, a Holocaust survivor, a Japanese prisoner-of-war, among many.

How long are your books and how much time is involved?

Our books range in length from 120 pages – 300 pages on average. Our writers schedule face to face interviews with our clients. Interviews are transcribed and then up to two drafts are submitted for client approval before a final manuscript is ready for publication. The process usually takes between six to eight months.

Do you conduct independent research?

The content of your book and the views expressed are entirely yours. However, we often conduct background research to provide your reader with facts and lively details to support your story, and make it come alive to your reader. For example if you attended the 1939 World’s Fair in New York City, we might fill in details: the cost of a ticket; what some of the pavilions looked like; and what were the commercial reasons to have a World’s Fair. We also provide fact-checking as part of our services.

Do you recommend including photographs?

Photographs as a companion to text are highly recommended. We will work with you to select the best quality photographs; typically, we recommend up to 40 photographs for inclusion.

What about using poems, lyrics of songs, and newspaper articles?

To the extent that they are in the public domain, or available for a small permission fee, such materials can add variety and texture to your words. A line from a favorite poem might be used at the front of your book to set the tone of your story, or a title of a song might be a perfect chapter heading.

How much does it cost to write a completed manuscript ready for publication?

Depending upon the length of the manuscript and the number of interviews conducted, our fee ranges from $20,000 to $30,000.

Who is the author of the book?

Our clients are listed as the author unless you choose to have an attribution such as “written with.”

How do I get my book published?

Our subsidiary, Provenance Press, is available to produce a trade-book quality or thesis style book. We will submit estimates for your approval before any costs are incurred and ask that you sign off on all pages, before the book is duplicated. If you choose to use an ondemand publisher, we will act as your intermediary.

How many copies of my book should I publish?

If you use Provenance Press, you will need to specify the number of books you wish to publish at the outset. Since we are a limited edition press, our book printings are usually between 75-500 copies. If you use an ondemand publishing services, you are required to buy a certain number of books, and then books are printed on an as needed basis;

Do you produce videos?

As a complement to a book, we recommend a companion DVD of up to 10 minutes in length. The contents of the video will present brief interviews and still photographs. The video will be produced with music, captions, and titles.
